When we get lost in our stories, we lose touch with our actual experience.

Tara Brach

PEOPLE suffering from any kind of trauma, are most of the times fixed in a stressful body narrative, which consciously or unconsciously, keeps on repeating itself overtime.

Independently of the event itself, trauma it’s a “story” held in the body, where incidents continue to be perpetuated by an overactive nervous system that keeps responding to the past danger as if it were still present.

The person is in a fundamental way stuck in the horrific imprint of the past and thus cannot imagine a future different from the past.

Peter Levine

STORIES people usually tell about trauma are fundamentally different from the body narratives here referred.

Body narratives relate to the implicit memory and are organised in fragmented sensory, emotional and conceptual traces: images, sounds, symbols and physical sensations. Accessing this narratives in a safe way, means most of all, to be present and anchored in the body experience.

BODY NARRATIVES emphasises the body as a container for the sensorial and emotional narratives.

It makes use of the therapeutic relationship, metaphorical language, symbolic play, sensorial-emotional awareness, energy-regulatory touch, sound and spontaneous, minimal movement to support the safe release of stressful body narratives, anchor the sense of empowerment and foster the nervous system’s resilience.

SESSIONS last between 1h30-2h00 and it takes place at the Centrum and East area of Amsterdam. More information will be send to you after Raquel receives your contact.

“It is not the traumas we suffer in childhood that make us emotionally ill, but the inability to express the trauma.”
